The Inspirations
With any new business, there is always something that drives you, something that pushes you to do something that might feel a little uncomfortable at first. My children are my inspiration. The need to provide for them & their needs. I will never stop being an artist, and I will never stop loving my children, so I decided to act on it. This page is merely for those interested in knowing more about what it is that drives me as an artist & as a mother.
Myles David Crutchfield was born in August, 2007. He was born five weeks early and weighed in at a very healthy 8 lbs, 5oz. Right up until Myles was 10 mos. old, his development was in the normal range. Then one morning, Myles woke up and the "baby babble" completely stopped. What had turned into baby steps, his first attempts to walk, went right back to crawling, and he was suddenly a very picky eater. No more words, no more ability to say: "Mama," nothing. His only form of communication was screaming, crying, & tantrums. With a lot of work, eventually he'd point to whatever he wanted. Sign language was very helpful by the time Myles was two years old. By this time, I'd found a program that was provided through the state called: "Babies Can't Wait." They provided us with an occupational therapist, a "play time" therapist, and a "speech therapist." When Myles turned 3 years old, all therapy provided by the state ended. He was placed in the public school system, (preschool) and is receiving on site therapy. His improvements over the past two years have been nothing shy of amazing! His first year in Kindergarten has been going really well too! He has made me so very proud of him! He has worked so hard! Myles has made it very clear that he wants to be understood. He wants to be able to communicate with us just as badly was we wish to be able to communicate with him! After all, we all want to be loved, and we all want to be heard! Myles is my hero. He's my smart, beautiful lil' man and it's my job as his mother to do everything I can to help him! In January 2010, I started my business. I need to be able to provide him with whatever his needs are, as well as any therapy he could benefit from. Thank you, to all of my friends, family & customers for your continued support as we journey down this road, A-Dressing Autism every day!! It is very much appreciated!
Madyson Michelle Noelle Crutchfield was born on Christmas Eve in 2008. She absolutely adores her brother. She loves everything her brother is into, especially anything he's currently playing with it... (chuckle) as well as all things girly. She loves her baby dolls, pretty "princess" dresses, and most of the time she doesn't mind being mommy's little model. Some days she'll fight with me about putting on one of my new creations, but as the photo shoot continues, eventually she's all smiles & happy, as she relishes in all the attention she's getting. (Laugh!) I fully anticipate future tea parties and I look forward to passing down my old Barbies, as well as some of my mother's old barbies down to her in the future. I fully anticipate her happiness that mommy is able to make her some pretty dresses, yet having to afford some I've not made. Sugar & spice & everything nice, that's what little girls are made of. She's a little bit mischievous, a little bit sneaky, a little bit of a mess, but most of the time she just wants to help and is very sweet and loving. She's my princess. So, mommy must help provide her with as many pretty things that I can. Again, thanks for your help & support of my business, it is very much appreciated! |
